How to Manage Categories

Overview

FLX supports a three-tier category nesting system: Category 1, Category 2, and Category 3. These categories can be fully customized to suit your business needs using mapping sets in the platform.

What Are Mapping Sets?

Mapping sets are tools that allow you to replace incoming data values with the desired output values. By applying them in mapping templates, you can seamlessly translate data from external sources into a format that works best for your system.

How Do Mapping Sets Work?

Mapping sets operate through a simple two-column structure:

  • Convert From Value: This column on the left represents the incoming data value that needs to be changed.
  • To Value: This column on the right defines the desired output value that replaces the incoming value.

Mapping sets are especially useful when categorizing products or data into FLX's three-category structure, ensuring consistency and accuracy.

Important:

  • The values for all 3 categories must be placed into a single mapping set.
  • You must have both headers in order to process a category update.
  • Categories can be customized globally in the settings section or channel-specific by going to the modifiers tab inside the channel.

Please make sure to follow these steps to avoid any issues with category updates.
