Adding a Source

In Flxpoint, a fulfillment source is your link to suppliers, warehouses, vendors, or other data sources. Think of it as the connection that keeps your inventory and order management running smoothly. By setting up fulfillment sources, you can import inventory data, send fulfillment requests to your suppliers, and receive shipment tracking updates, all from one place.

Here are some examples of fulfillment sources you might use:

  • A flat file from a distributor.
  • A file uploaded via an FTP server.
  • An API connection to platforms like Shopify or BigCommerce.

With these integrations, your fulfillment sources can handle three key tasks:

  1. Import inventory data into your Flxpoint account.
  2. Process and route fulfillment requests.
  3. Send shipment and tracking details back to Flxpoint.

After you Add your Source

Once you’ve added a new source, you’ll want to make sure your inventory is up-to-date. The Get Inventory Primary feature allows you to import data from your supplier so you can link or list products across your sales channels. Here's how to run it:

  1. Navigate to the source you’ve just added in Flxpoint.
  2. Go to the Integrations tab and select Get Inventory Primary.
  3. Click the three dots on the right-hand side of the integration, then choose Run Sync to start the process.
  4. After the sync completes, review the imported inventory.
  5. Link imported items to existing products or create new listings for your channels.

Tips for Managing Imported Products:

  • Linking Existing Products: If your catalog already contains products with matching identifiers (e.g., UPCs), run a link-to-products process. Items without a match can be treated as new entries in the catalog.
  • Staying Within SKU Limits: Keep track of the number of SKUs you’re importing to avoid exceeding your plan’s limits. Use tools like Inventory Exclusion to manage overages. You can also review your plan and limits under the Billing and Payments section of Flxpoint.

Managing Fulfillment Source Settings

You can customize each fulfillment source’s behavior by adjusting its settings to fit your business needs. Here’s a quick rundown of key features to fine-tune your fulfillment process:

Allow Backorders: This enables Flxpoint to create fulfillment requests for products marked as "0" or "Out of Stock." However, tread carefully—this is best suited for internal warehouses where you manage inventory directly. For dropship sources? Probably best to skip this one (no one likes surprises... especially stock-related ones).

Overrides: By toggling "Override Global Settings for This Source," you unlock extra customization options. For example:

  • Auto Process Fulfillment Requests: Automatically process fulfillment requests routed to this source. Ideal if you trust your internal warehouse like a best friend but want to review orders from dropship suppliers before they go out.

Advanced Settings: Need to go nuclear on a source? You can:

  • Remove Inventory: Wipe out all inventory variants for this source and reset it.
  • Delete Source: Permanently delete the source and its inventory. (Handle with care—there’s no “undo” here!)

In short, these settings let you keep things running your way, whether you’re a micromanager or a set-it-and-forget-it type.
